2018 Shannon Cup Raises $7,000
The Shannon Cup Girls Youth Hockey Tournaments were hosted by Rochester Youth Hockey Jan. 26-28 at Graham Arena. Twenty teams from Minnesota and Iowa took part, including 4 local teams. Thanks to generous donations and merchandise sales, $7,000 was raised for the Shannon O'Hara Foundation. Thanks to all who made the event a success.
At the age of 12, Shannon was diagnosed on April 15, 2011 with a brainstem glioma tumor (DIPG). This was a terminal diagnosis as this type of tumor is inoperable and incurable. Shannon fought her nine month battle with determination and grace until passing away on January 6, 2012.
Hear Shannon's wish to make a difference:
Shannon lived her life with a positive attitude, always working hard for what she wanted, and being a good friend and teammate. In her memory, this foundation will support youth who carry on those ideals by awarding scholarships. In addition, funds will be used to support brain tumor research as we work towards a cure.
